one-year-old boy, and the baby's 48-year-old grandmother. and the third victim, a three year-old girl, remains hospitalized. she is now said to be in stable condition. earlier today kron4 talked to a neighbor who went into the home after he heard of the attack. he describes a family member of the victims. >> allowed to dry blood. kit she was alert. she was not moving at all but her eyes were moving around. they were speaking to her saying she was strong. she was lying there looking up. you could barely make out her face there was a much blood. she spoke to him that's how i knew it was her father. she called him a copy. -- daddy. i observed the

father telling them he's a coward. i'm not sure who he was referring to and shortly after, the police came. but he was putting pressure on her won't. he probably saved her life. i'm not sure how long they were there before they had discovered them. >>pam: coming up tonight at 6. neighbor. about what he knew about the suspect. and why he had been taking precautions. long before this attack. >>grant:here's where that fatal stabbing happened. it was in the alum rock neighborhood in east san jose on viewmont avenue.not far from james lick high school. it's been a violent couple days in san jose. a man was found dead near the corner of blossom hill road and snell avenue early this morning. his body was discovered near some dumpsters behind a jack-in- the-box restaurant. police are now reviewing surveillance video from the restaurant and are interviewing

several witnesses but have revealed nothing about any possible suspects or a motive for the killing. police say the man appeared to have been beaten. a weapon was recovered but the cause of death remains under investigation. it was the 16th homicide so far this year in san jose. also, san jose police are investigating yet another murder. this yesterday at a holiday express inn motel on monterey road. kron-4's rob fladeboe reports on this homicide. and the suspect that polcie are looking for. >>rob:we've learned the victim is a woman from san jose. she is identified as 35-year-old veronica lozano, she was found dead in her room here at this holiday inn on south monterey road wednesday afternoon. her body discovered in a first floor suite, say police, by a hotel employee. there was evidence of a violent struggle. police: a pretty butyl--brutal scene. >>rob: this is the man police are looking for in connection

every year. right now, preparations are underway. kron 4's justine waldman is live tonight. at the finish line. to tell us about the changes for this years race. jusitne? >> justine: right now. crews are getting ready for the 30-thousand plus runners who will be here on sunday. you can see. somethings that are not different this year. runners must wear clothes and there is a zero alcohol policy. today san francisco police went over their security plans. some runners will see. others you won't. there will be uniform and undercover police officers all around the course. from the local agencies to the fbi. there are also cameras set- up. at the start line, finish line and at hayes hill where the crowd gets really thick. those cameras. will provide police information what is happening at those

locations. and of course after the bombings at the boston marathon. sfpd has been monitoring any threats of violence to bay to breakers. also, there are changes to the size back pack you can bring. this is as big as it can be. >> we do have the least pain attention to any information we get. we have deployed accordingly and obviously that's not something i'm going to discuss here. >>justine: if police spot you with one on the race course.they will pull you aside and chat with you about it. all and all. they want the 102nd bay to breakers to be safe and silly at the same time.

officials are ruling the cause of the fire that triggered two nearly simultaneous explosions as undetermined. investigators estimated that between 28 and 34 tons of ammonium nitrate exploded. originally there was about 150 tons of the chemical on the site, including 100 tons in a rail car that did not explode. meaning the blast could have been much larger.

>>pam:only on four. san francisco police are releasing new details. about a potential lead in the killing of ernesto "xe" acosta. it is connected to a fight between two rival rappers at a nightclub. that happened minutes before the murder. we have new video which shows the aftermath of that violent confrontation. but first, grant lodes shows us how close the brawl was. to the murder scene. grant? >> grant: police say the innocent man was shot and killed here at the corner of hayes and webster. this was at 2 in the morning on february 10th.

the y at yoshi's nightclub.which is on filmore near eddy. yoshi's shut down at 1:30 a- m because of the brawl inside the club. and as kron4's maureen kelly reports.police are now focusing on that fight between rival rappers at yoshi's. they're trying to figure out if there's a connection to half hour later.a half mile away. famous rappes al and i don't know for sure that the two rappers who involved, but part of their entourages were. the police say 15 to 20 minutes after the street was cleared. this is surveillance video from inside the cap that was dropping off passengers just before the shot killed j. with fire.

>>pam:a vigiil is being held tonight in clearlake. who was found dead hawks yesterday. divers found mikaela lynch's body in a creek near thethe severely autistic girl. disappeared sunday. police say, there is no evidence of fo play. thrial will be held at j-and-l market. >>catherine:in developing news. the u-s marshals service has apparently lost a couple of the people who were in their witness protection program. what makes this more troubling - both of them are described as "known or suspected terrorists." that's according to a justice department audit. the report says that one of the suspects was later found to be living outside the u.s. the other person is also believed to have left the country. the justice department is trying to play this down - by saying that the number of known or suspected terrorists represents "a fraction of one percent" of program. e in the witness

>> kron 4 news starts now. >>pam: the jury in phoenix heard emotional testimony today. as they considered whether jodi arias should face life in prison -- or get the death penalty for her murder conviction. catherine heenan is here with the latest. >> catherine: it's the final chapter in the murder case. after being convicted of the first degree murder of her former boyfriend - jodi arias had one more verdict to face. and it's a question of life or death. today she heard a brother and sister of travis alexander make an impassioned plea that air- ree-as be executed for stabbing him to death in 2008. travis was one of 8 siblings. after losing both their parents - the family says it was travis who everyone leaned on. and one of his brothers

morning, some pettifog for the north bay. i think this is a very good representation of what we will see tomorrow. the fog will clear by seven. we are still going to hang on to that fog into the east bay and to the eight or 9:00 hour. by 10, it will be cleared there. temperature rise, and the '50s out the door tomorrow morning and then at '60s and '70s for your lunchtime hour with the exception of near the coast line. so '60s and '70s for the most part tomorrow. looking at mild evening temperatures running in the '60s. his of the pitcher neighborhood. we will see it 60 degrees in san francisco, 70 and san jose, 74 up in napa, 74 and antioch, forecast, still cooler tomorrow but much warmer

into the weekend. very brief fog in the morning. put it was a warm into monday but cooler for the rest of next week. now for bay to breakers, a little frog packed the coast line early in the morning. san thing goes for haight street hills. if you're an early riser you will encounter some pettifog but after 9:00, mostly clear conditions and a mild temperatures as well. we are expecting out conditions at the coast line for sunday afternoon. if you are an early runner, you will run into fog along the coast but that should clear i expect no later than 10.

same time frame. kron-4's grant lodes has more on the timeline of these incidents. grant? >>grant:now, to the most tragic incident -- the deadly triple stabbing of a 48-year-old woman and her two grandchildren. this is the man suspected of the crime -- ruben ramirez. that triple stabbing is still shocking the bay area -- 24 hours after it all happened. here is the latest. the woman and her one-year- old grandchild were killed in the stabbing. but the three- year-old is alive, in serious but stable condition. as we mentioned, ruben ramirez has been arrested on murder and attempted murder charges. he is the son of the woman killed. and the uncle of the two children.

there is no word on whether a weapon was involved. but police say, there was struggle. tonight.san francisco police are releasing new information about a possible lead in the murder of ernesto "xe" acosta. the 23 year old was gunned down while walking to a friend's house in the early morning hours of february 10th in the western addition neighborhood. now homicide investigators say there may be a connection between that killing and a fight that broke out a few blocks away at yoshi's nightclub. this is youtube video that shows people spilling out onto the street after the brawl. police say the fight happened as a result of a beef between "the game" an l-a based rap star who was performing at the club and a local san francisco rapper. acosta was killed about 15 minutes after police cleared clubgoers from the area. the murder scene is only a half mile away from yoshi's. those with information about the murder to come forward.

>>pam:early this morning a mountain lion was found trapped in an aqueduct near downtown santa cruz. kron 4's charles clifford has details. >>charles:around 7am thursday morning, residents near downtown santa cruz reported seeing this mountain lion jump into the branciforte creek aqueduct. now, the aqueduct is about a mile long and has 20 foot tall concrete walls on both side.. with a fence along the top. these photographs were taken by a photographer with the santa cruz sentinel now, the big cat apparently tried to jump out a couple times, but the walls were just to high and smooth. by mid morning, wildlife experts from uc santa cruz and the state department of fish and wildlife came in to attempt a rescue. at first they wanted to herd the mountain lion down the aqueduct to somewhere where it could escape, but that wasn't working. so they put up nets to contain it and then tagged the cat with two tranquilizer darts. after it fell asleep, they were able to lower a crate down into the aqueduct and
